Happy International Women’s Day!
Do you ever feel like all the interesting news in the world takes place for/to/by other people? In other people’s lives, other neighborhoods, other countries? I know I do.

It’s silly, though. Not only do I know that the news that happens far away affects me very deeply here at home, I am also aware that what happens locally does matter, and can be interesting, I just have to pay attention. I just have to open my eyes and recalibrate my valuing senses to realize how very much is going on right under my nose. I should also probably strive a little bit harder for some work-life balance. There’s plenty to do and see when I just pull myself away from work for a few moments…. I know you know what I’m talking about.
So this International Women’s Day let’s get out there and celebrate together–wherever we are. Check the official International Women’s Day site for a comprehensive list of events, and add your own in the Comments below.
If you’re in Montreal, drop me a line and don’t miss the walking demonstration and benefit for Le Chainon.
And if you’re in Washington, DC it’s not too late to plan to attend a special evening celebration with Peace X Peace founder Patricia Smith Melton, Peace X Peace staff, and Code Pink at Busboys and Poets, 14th & V NW.
