Khurasan, The Birthplace of Lions

28 April 2010 13 Comments

Alaha Ahrar
Afghanistan

In the name of God, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate

O my beloved country Afghanistan

Birthplace of lion-hearted men and brave women

Throughout history you have raised champions

Hundreds in the mold of Mahmud of Ghazni and Abu Muslim,

Faryabi, al-Biruni, and Rumi of Balkh

Your name is tied to theirs for eternity

This is Khurasan, realm of the lions

This freedom-loving nation is the pride of Asia

I bow before your mountain wind; your desert dust is precious

I would not trade a single blade of your green grass for gardens

You have raised me, O beloved country, with your bread and water

I will let no enemy, in sky or land, destroy you

Alaha begs God Almighty

May her country be eternally prosperous.

Mohammad Hashem, the prominent Afghan scholar, says “Although Afghanistan is a country of poetry and it is famous for its rich poetry, Afghanistan has never had such a talented and intelligent Afghan young lady poet in its entire history. . . . Alaha will never die, she is going to be alive in the heart of Afghanistan’s poetry as its only and best Afghan Young Woman Poet.”

And here is the poem in its original Dari:

I am extremely happy seeing such a talent in our beloved country. I have been continiously following her poetry and they are simply amazing and outstanding. Despite the very limited education opportunities for women in Afghanistan, Alaha proved that nonthing is impossible in this world if one really keep efforts and struggle towards a bright future. I wish her best of luck and success in her life, our prayers are with you and I am sure you will be very helpful for your country.

    Best Wishes,
    Khalid Z

Ms. Sajia Alaha Ahrar, I just finished reading all your Persian Dari poems online. I kept reading and reading and finally it took me here.

I can describe you as a very powerful woman. You have the worlds power, that no one else have it. You can write very much beautifully whatever you feel. You have a special talent of expression. As I said in my other comments on your some other poems that I found them in Persian that you are gifted.
You are a pride for all.
