• In Where Women Still Struggle, Khaleej Times, Randa El Tahawy explains that women in Egypt have NOT been silent in the face of oppression, and continue to organize and speak out to demand inclusion and equal rights.
• Three young women, Emma Axelrod, Elena Tsemberis, and Sammi Sigel have started a petition, and it has already been signed by over 100,000 people! Read more on change.org: It’s Time for a Woman Moderator: Equality in the 2012 [United States] Presidential Debates.
• Again, youth leading the way in changing unrealistic expectations of beauty that are promoted in women’s magazines. From the Huffington Post, Julia Bluhm, 14, Leads Successful Petition For Seventeen Magazine To Portray Girls Truthfully.
• Finally, in What the World Does Not Know About US, a writer for our Connection Point publication tells us who she is and what she works to eradicate: “My name is Maya El Helou, I have been a feminist activist since 2006 in Lebanon, and I am allergic to injustice.”
