Patricia Smith Melton
Peace X Peace Founder 
Ms. Smith Melton is a poet, playwright, and photographer with more than 30 years of experience in the arts. Her book Sixty Years, Sixty Voices , celebrating the diversity and power of the women of Israel/Palestine, was published in November 2008. Earlier, she produced and co-directed the award-winning 2003 documentary PEACE BY PEACE: Women on the Frontlines, which highlights the often invisible work of women around the world in building the components of sustainable peace. She is co-founder of the Melton International Education Foundation, the recipient of the The Rumi Foundation’s 2008 Peace Award, and one of OneWorld’s 2008 People of the Year. In 2009 she was honored by Civic Ventures as a Purpose Prize Fellow. Her newest project, the film series Catalyst, is an outgrowth of Sixty Years, Sixty Voices.

For more than 30 years, Angela has worked for the federal government in public relations and natural resources management, including being a park ranger in Tennessee for 10 years managing the public lands and parks bordering 3 Corps of Engineers lakes; working in outreach and media relations in Washington, D.C. for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office of Public Affairs; and is currently managing the fast-acting operations for the director of NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries , the trustee for the nation’s 14 marine protected areas. Angela brings to the board a keen imagination and sense of creativity, a knack for attention to detail in event-planning, and a love for serving humanity. She is pleased to serve on the Peace X Peace Board of Directors.
CEO, Founder, Transclick
Robert E. Levin is an entrepreneur, best-selling and renowned author of the first biography of President Bill Clinton, Professor of Finance at Columbia University, advisor to the National Geographic Society and contributing member of the World Economic Forum.
Levin serves as Chief Executive Officer of Transclick–the leading mobile messaging company offering real-time language translation of instant messaging, email, SMS and text to/from 20 languages. He led the company through multiple rounds of seed and early stage financing, sold to early critical reference accounts including the US Army, IBM-NATO, the USDA and the US House of Representatives. He also negotiated alliances with Research In Motion & Nokia.
Levin received an MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a Masters in International Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, and studied art history and political science at the University of Bordeaux. He also received a Master of Arts in International Affairs from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He is fluent in French.
Lydia C. Moore
Lydia Moore is a humanitarian, philanthropist, and supporter of women worldwide. Originally from the Philippines, she and her husband Retired Vice Admiral Charles W Moore Jr have lived and traveled throughout the world, including Japan, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
With her home base in Texas, Lydia continues to be very supportive of work being done to help orphans through the Catholic Charities. Lydia and her husband are currently living in Abu Dhabi, where her husband is president of Lockheed Martin for the Middle East and Africa. Lydia continues to work for the betterment of the lives of women and children through her support of ex-patriate women as well as the Peace X Peace Board and community.
Lydia was awarded the Commander in Chiefs Outstanding Community Service Medallion and The Superior Public Service Award to the Department of the Navy. She serves on the Board of Directors for Catholic Charities in Fort Worth Texas, and has served on the boards of the American-Bahrain Friendship Society and International Art Foundation.
Lydia has six grandchildren.

Ms. Montplaisir is an experienced developer and contractor responsible for developing over 2,000 condominium units in Chicago, Florida, and Washington, DC, where she has revitalized neighborhoods once in decline. She is a published author and speaker on environmental issues related to construction and a member of the Building Code Advisory Committee, a mayoral appointment. Taurus Renovation is a member of the Green Building Council.
Charles F. (Chic) Dambach
Author, Lecturer & Consultant
Chic Dambach’s wide-ranging career includes six years as President and CEO of the Alliance for Peacebuilding, where he established a network of organizations and professionals to help build sustainable peace and security worldwide. Previously, he restructured and revitalized the National Peace Corps Association, and he helped Peter Yarrow build Operation Respect’s anti-bullying initiatives. He retired recently after serving as Chief of Staff for Congressman John Garamendi. His career began as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Colombia.
Chic’s memoir Exhaust the Limits, the Life and Times of a Global Peacebuilder features successful conflict resolution initiatives in Africa. He also co-wrote Structures and Practices of Nonprofit Boards and The Business Professional’s Guide to Nonprofit Board Service, both published by BoardSource where he was a senior governance consultant. He has lectured at dozens of conferences and campuses, and he is an adjunct professor at both the Elliott School at George Washington University and the Center for Advanced Governmental Studies at Johns Hopkins University. Chic has a BA degree in speech/communications from Oklahoma State University and an MBA degree from Wake Forest University.

Maggie Holmes is an entrepreneur that is highly sought-after as a facilitator and presenter in the nonprofit community. She has 20 plus years in senior management, grant writing, proposal development, and nonprofit consulting and has earned one of the nation’s highest credentials for professional grant writers, the Grant Professional Certification.
For more than 20 years, Ms. Holmes has worked with national, state, and local nonprofit organizations to build capacity, partnership and coalition building, strategic thinking sessions, program development, coaching nonprofit leaders, and organization development. She has served on Maryland State Board of Social Services; Prince George’s Board of Social Services, and Prince George’s County Regional United Way Council.
Ms. Holmes has served as a national trainer on grant writing, identifying federal funding sources, and understanding the federal grant process to local Faith and Community-based organizations. During this time, she developed tracking and monitoring systems for thousands of dollars pass-through funds (grants) from the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Faith and Community Based Initiative. Served as program manager and provided technical assistance and guidance to 25 sub-awards regarding federal laws, regulations, rules and guidance as it relates to receiving federal funds; reviewed and evaluated applications and proposals for funding.
Also, Ms. Holmes has overseen contracts, grants, memoranda of agreement/understanding, and cooperative agreements management process, including issuing notices of grant funds availability and requests for proposals. Proposal development includes foundations, federal, state, and local government grants for faith and community-based, nonprofit organizations. As past President of the Human Service Coalition of Prince George’s County, an advocacy and capacity building organization for the nonprofit sector, she led this organization to triple its staff and received its first federal grant in the amount of $500,000.
Currently, she is volunteering and working with several international nonprofit organizations in Africa.

Mitra is a Tax Partner at Raffa, PC, a Washington Metropolitan Area accounting, consulting and technology firm. She provides comprehensive and creative tax and business advice including current and long term tax minimization and financial planning strategies, restructuring transactions, exit strategies and merger and acquisition matters as well as tax efficient estate planning with a focus on generational transfers, succession planning and transitions. She has in-depth knowledge of federal and state taxation and has extensive experience with tax compliance for U.S. and international companies and IRS and state level tax examinations.
Mitra is a CPA, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland and District of Columbia Associations of Certified Public Accountants. Mitra holds a bachelor’s of science in business administration from the University of Maryland and a master’s of science in taxation from Georgetown University.
Real Estate Entrepreneur and Realtor, Coldwell Banker, Washington, DC
Michael has been a real estate entrepreneur on the Eastern Seabord for over 30 years. As a broker, he and his business partner Claudine Chetrit are among the DC area’s most successful home and commercial property realtors. They have even been ranked in the top 1% of all realtors internationally. Michael has decades of brokerage experience and an insider’s knowledge of DC’s most dynamic neighborhoods. Individually,and as a team, Michael and Claudine set aside 10% of their business profits for charity, half close to home and half ranging widely. Since 2005 Michael has made significant personal and financial contributions to Peace X Peace. Mike says, “Giving has always been a natural part of life for me. As a Board member, it’s wonderful to be in a position where I am able to give back.”
Russell B. Stevenson, Jr.
Mr. Stevenson has been engaged for over 40 years in a variety of legal occupations including, law professor, regulator, private practitioner, and in-house counsel. He is now a Visiting Associate Professor at Georgetown Law School, where he teaches Corporation Law and Securities Regulation. Prior to coming to Georgetown, he was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of CIENA Corporation, a leading provider of communications networking solutions. Before joining CIENA, Mr. Stevenson served as General Counsel of ARBROS Communications, an early stage communications service provider. From 1996 to 2000, he was General Counsel of CyberCash, Inc., a provider of software and services for electronic commerce. Prior to that, he practiced law in Washington, D.C., with a practice that concentrated on securities and corporate law. From 1971 to 1981 Mr. Stevenson was a member of the full-time law faculty at George Washington University, where he taught corporations, securities regulation, international business transactions, international economic development and civil procedure. During that time he also was a visiting professor at Cornell Law School and, in 1977-78, a Fulbright Professor at the University of Paris II (Sorbonne). In 1981 Mr. Stevenson joined the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he served as Deputy General Counsel. In 1984 he returned to the private practice of law.
Mr. Stevenson holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, cum laude. He is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Stevenson is the author of two books on corporate law and has published numerous articles on securities regulation, corporate law, and the law of electronic commerce. He has spoken often at conferences on securities regulation, corporate governance and related topics. He has been active in the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar, the International Law Association, and various community organizations. He is also the founder and Chairman of the Chesapeake Legal Alliance, a non-profit organization that provides pro bono legal assistance in service of improving the quality of the Chesapeake Bay.
Sahar Taman is a board member of Peace X Peace and in 2011 she received the Peace X Peace Women, Power, and Peace Connection Point Award for her efforts to connect Muslim and Arab women with women in the West.
She is co-founder of Journeys to Understanding, a nonprofit organization dedicated to opening windows of understanding between peoples of the world through immersion journeys. Sahar directed the Religion and Society Dialogue Program at the National Peace Foundation where she developed the program to foster dialogue between the Arabic-speaking Middle East and American religious communities of all faiths. She led study tours of the religious landscape of the U.S. and in the Arab world with over 70 American and international delegates; scholars, religious practitioners, activists, and journalists. Sahar led several programs in Egypt, before and after the 2011 revolution, which aim to address Muslim-Christian relations.
She received the 2010 National Award for Citizen Diplomacy from the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy for her work in U.S.- Muslim relations. She is the editor of Reflections and Experiences of Religion and Society (2010), a compendium of essays from writers who describe their personal transformation from interfaith experiences.
She has previously worked at the Office of Management and Budget in the Executive Office of the President of the United States. She is on the Charitable Giving Committee that manages the Trust of the Islamic Society of Northern Wisconsin and the Board of the Bosnian American Genocide Institute and Education Center.
