Become a Facilitator

Interested in Facilitating for Connection Point Dialogues? Read more here!

Facilitators are crucial components of a dialogue, and vital to the success of such a process. Dialogues that utilize web-based platforms cut across physical boundaries and can bring people together who may not otherwise have the opportunity to meet in person. Facilitating dialogues across physical, cultural, and religious boundaries is an exciting and rewarding experience, and we invite you to develop your conflict resolution skills, and join us to create understanding and build an interconnected community of women through this online forum. We encourage graduate students or practitioners working in the field of conflict resolution to apply to be a volunteer facilitator, and to learn how you can create change and build peace from your computer!

Candidate experience
Previous experience in dialogues among people from different backgrounds, either as a facilitator, or as a participant
Knowledge of the issues impacting Western women, and those impacting Arab and Muslim women, and how the status of women is framed and discussed in the context of the relationship between the ‘West’ and the Arab and Muslim ‘world’
A willingness to engage in reflective practice, and be open to feedback and a shared learning process
A commitment to peacebuilding processes and to the Peace X Peace mission.
Dialogues will be conducted in English, but fluency in Arabic, Urdu, French, or Farsi is a plus

Dialogues will be conducted online, using Google+ Hangouts. Facilitators will need access to a computer or laptop with high-speed internet, a webcam and microphone, and will also need a Google + account (easy to set up!)

Facilitator Training
If your application is accepted, Peace X Peace will require online facilitation training, which will take place in March. Training will cover effective facilitation strategies, the use of online tools in dialogue, some of the issues and topics that will be examined by participants during the dialogue process, and activities to encourage self-reflection. Upon successful completion of the training, you will be considered as facilitators for our Connection Point Dialogues.

Please note: Because this is a program focused on engaging women in dialogue with one another, we will not consider applications from men. We expect for men to take part in women-led dialogue as we expand our programming.
