A video series highlighting the voices of Israeli and Palestinian women.
Peace X Peace is proud to share this new video series. The videos feature voices of Palestinians and Israelis during this time of dynamic confrontation. Hope and despair have taken turns in the Middle East through the Oslo Accords of 1993, two intifadas, the building of the separation wall, a blockade, the killing of more than 1300 Gazans in January 2009, and a financial upturn in Ramallah in the West Bank.
Check out Peace X Peace founder Patricia Smith Melton’s introduction to the series:
Peace by Peace: Women on the Frontlines
Produced by our founder, Patricia Smith Melton, with an all-woman film crew in Afghanistan, Argentina, Bosnia, Burundi, and the US and narrated by actress Jessica Lange, it is moving, educational, and inspiring. It shows women peacemakers that we are not alone and makes it clear that our work is the glue of society.
The documentary had its international premiere at the United Nations on October 28, 2003, the third anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security. The film was broadcast on more than 300 PBS television stations across the U.S. and in 15 other nations.
Peace by Peace: Women on the Frontlines won the Golden Eagle Cine Award in 2004 and the Best Documentary Aurora Award in 2006. As it continues to be aired at film festivals and conferences, in university classrooms, in church basements, and in living rooms, it inspires those who view it to claim their own role in the peacebuilding work of both ordinary and extraordinary women around the world.
