Annually we honor extraordinary women and men on the frontlines of peacebuilding with the Women, Power, and Peace Awards.

Peace Media Award

The Peace Media Award honors a publication, video, radio or television program, investigative reporter, or Internet organization that uses the power of media to inform and inspire civil society to help build cultures of peace.

Awardee: Sheryl WuDunn

In recognition of the influential role Sheryl WuDunn has played in shining a light on women’s experiences around the world, we honor her with our 2010 Peace Media Award.

Peace Philanthropy Award

The Peace Philanthropy Award honors a person or organization that has contributed generous funds over time to address the needs of women and to support women’s work in developing cultures of peace.

Awardee: Caroline Firestone

For her creative, passionate, and very personal support of the people of Afghanistan, especially the women, we honor Caroline Firestone as the recipient of our 2010 Peace Philanthropy Award.

Patricia Smith Melton Peacebuilder Award

The Patricia Smith Melton Peace Builder Award honors a person or organization that builds cultures of peace not only through their daily work, but also inspires, organizes, and leads others to create a just and harmonious world.

Awardee: United Methodist Committee on Relief

For seeing what needs to be done and then doing it with love, respect, and humility, we award the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) with the 2010 Patricia Smith Melton Peacebuilder Award.

Community Peacebuilder Award

The Community Peacebuilder Award honors a person or organization that builds cultures of peace at a community level. This peacebuilder is responsible for spearheading activities that promote a peaceful, just, equitable, and healthy community, and inspires others to do the same.

Awardee: Anyango Jane Odongo

In recognition of her heroic work on behalf of Kibera’s slum women, Peace X Peace and its worldwide members, award Anyango Jane Odongo the 2010 Community Peacebuilder Award.
